This year will be my first full marathon running for Boston Children's Hospital Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team. For the past 4 years, I have gone to watch the marathon with my husband and two girls to support my friends run for charities including JR Linden who I will be running with this year. I cannot think of a better reason to have my kids miss school - as the education they get watching these runners, so many for charities, is awe inspiring. I always have left saying I can do that!
With my passion for nutrition and health, I couldn't be more excited to run for this team. I have a patient partner, Drew Rego, that I will be using as my motivation on the frigid mornings and long runs. Drew is a 5 year old who suffers from a rare genetic disorder called GRIN2A and CP. This leaves him with multiple impairments including epilepsy. He has been receiving treatment thru Boston for 4.5 years. I am very excited to meet him and his family in the upcoming months. The research and clinical trials we fund include Moyamoya, Sturge-Weber Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Pediatric Brain Cancer. In our small Concord NH community the past few years have been tragic for cases of pediatric brain cancer. If I can help in my small way towards finding a cure I am in.
Thank you for supporting my journey. I do love a good adventure, and this one will tug at my heart all along the way. Thank you friends and family. I hope to see some of you on the sidelines come April!
