The Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team

The Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team is a collaboration of corporate sponsors, participating credit unions, medical investigators and their research teams, Boston Marathon runners and their families, patient partners and their families, and volunteers, all of whom are dedicated to our Team's mission of helping children lead happy and healthy lives.

We are currently recruiting new teammates—Corporate Sponsors, Participating Credit Unions, Runners, Patient Partners, and Volunteers—for our 2019-2019 season. If you are interested in joining our Team, please contact us by phone at 800.428.1144 or using the form on the CONTACT US page.

Meet our Team

Platinum Sponsors are vital to our mission to help children lead happy and healthy lives. They provide critical financial support so no contributions made by Corporate Sponsors, Participating Credit Unions, or private donors are used to cover overhead or administrative costs. Platinum Sponsors enable the charitable organization to stage several team-building and celebratory events throughout the year to benefit Credit Unions Kids at Heart, including EasCorp's Annual Holiday Kick-Off Party and Pre-Marathon Breakfast.

Corporate Sponsors provide the Team unwavering support and enduring stability. With this philanthropic effort, Corporate Sponsors demonstrate their social responsibility and community investment, and align their company with innovative and important research initiatives that directly impact and better the lives of children worldwide. Funds contributed by Corporate Sponsors directly support the Team's research initiatives.

Contributions provided by our Participating Credit Unions represent a large portion of the Team's annual fundraising total. Their contributions are used for matching funds on Giving Tuesday and for other fundraising challenge campaigns, and directly support the Team's research directives.

Each year, a number of Participating Credit Unions also sponsor runners, employees who are willing to commit to the training schedule, meet fundraising goals, and represent that credit union on the Team. Participating Credit Unions with a sponsored runner enjoy greater opportunities for employee and member engagement in this shared philanthropic initiative. This engagement raises the organization's visibility in the community, encouraging greater participation and broadening the donor base.

Each year, our runners are paired with patient partners. Each of these children has received, or presently receives, care and treatment from Boston Children's Hospital for various pediatric neurological disorders and conditions. Their partnership and personal stories motivate our runners' ambitious training and fundraising regimens, and serve as inspiration for the Team's efforts to fund research and clinical trials to combat pediatric neurological disorders.

With the generous help of the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) and Boston Children's Hospital, the CU Kids at Heart Team obtains charitable runners' “bibs,” limited entries awarded for charitable fundraising purposes, for the Annual Boston Marathon. Each of the CU Kids at Heart runners raises money for the Team's research directive, and because their contributions support a restricted fund, they are expected to raise more than most charitable runners. Our runners are paired with patient partners who have received care at Boston Children's Hospital, and many form a life-long bond.
